Governor Visits Modern Slaughter House
Aizawl, the 9th October, 2024: The Governor of Mizoram, Pu Indra Sena Reddy Nallu visited the AH& Vety. Department’s Modern Slaughter House at Mualpui this morning at 4:30 AM; interacted with the concerned officials and inspected the whole procedures.
Governor Pu Indra Sena Reddy Nallu reiterated that meticulous inspection of food items prior to consumption is necessary to prevent infectious diseases. He also stressed on the importance of conducting ante-mortem, post-mortem and processing inspection at Slaughter House and urged the concerned officials to check practice of animal slaughter that takes place outside the designated place. While emphasizing the importance of utilising available infrastructures, he urged the concerned officials to take steps to ensure that Modern Slaughter House at Mualpui is run properly with the facilities available with them.
The Governor was received at the venue by Dr. Vanlalhruaia, Jt. Director (LD&B); Dr. Neihthangpuii, Dy. Director (VPH) and Dr. Michael V. Lalrinzuala, VO (VPH), who then provided insights into the operation and features of the Modern Slaughter House.
The Modern Slaughter House at Mualpui was inaugurated in the year 2013, it is in operation throughout the week except on sunday, under the supervision of designated Veterinary Officer. An average of 500-600 animals are slaughtered here per month.
