    Aizawl, the 7th October, 2025: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), graced the 25th Graduation and Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the Regional Institute of Paramedical & Nursing Sciences (RIPANS) as the Chief Guest at the RIPANS Auditorium in Aizawl today. Addressing the gathering, the Governor presented medals and citations to the Gold Medalists of the Mizoram University Exam 2025.

    In his address, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh congratulated the graduates for their dedication and achievements, emphasising that graduation day symbolises commitment and service. He urged the students to approach their professions with integrity, compassion and responsibility, serving not for personal gain but as a blessing to others. He encouraged them to work with sincerity and humility, embodying the highest standards of their noble profession.

    Highlighting RIPANS’ role as a premier institution and proud symbol of healthcare progress in Northeast India, the Governor praised its contribution to producing skilled professionals who serve both within India and globally. He commended the Central Government’s efforts under the Ayushman Bharat initiative to strengthen the health sector in Northeast India, noting that the 100-bedded hospital at RIPANS will enhance Mizoram’s healthcare system and support students, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.

    General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh praised the people of Mizoram and the Northeast for their sincerity, discipline and compassion, qualities that make them highly sought-after in healthcare institutions across India and beyond. He described RIPANS graduates as global ambassadors of healthcare and urged them to uphold their reputation with excellence. He encouraged them to serve patients with hope, trust and love, to continue learning and to remain resilient in their noble calling.

    During the event, Dr. Sanjay D. Sawant, Director of RIPANS, presented Proficiency Awards to 88 students. Pi Lalruatkimi Renthlei, Nursing Superintendent at Greenwood Hospital, Aizawl, led the lamp-lighting ceremony and oath-taking for B.Sc Nursing students. Mementos were presented to the graduates, and a valedictory address was delivered by a student representatives. Dr. H. Lalhlenmawia, Convener of the 25th Graduation and Lamp Lighting Ceremony, concluded the event with a vote of thanks.

    Established on March 30, 1995, RIPANS currently operates seven departments: College of Nursing, Department of Pharmacy, Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Department of Optometry, Department of Radio Imaging Technology and newly introduced Department of Physiotherapy and PG Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics. It offers 12 academic programs (6 UG, 1 PG Diploma, 4 PG, and 1 Post-Doctoral) with 160 staff (51 teaching, 109 non-teaching) and 925 students.

    RIPANS serves students from all eight Northeastern states and other parts of India, with 243 seats across programs: B.Sc Nursing (50), B.Sc MLT (40), B.Pharm (40), B.Sc RIT (40), B.Optom (40), and BPT (33). This year, 218 students (173 UG, 45 PG) received degrees. To date, RIPANS has produced 2,815 UG and 166 PG graduates.
