    Mizoram Governor Flags Off Ambulance For Silsury Village In Mamit Aspirational District

    Aizawl, the 17th April, 2026: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), today flagged off a Basic Life Support Ambulance procured under the CSR fund of NBCC (India) Ltd. The ambulance is designated to serve Silsury Village, located along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Mamit Aspirational District. The short flag-off ceremony was held at the Upper Lawn of Lok Bhavan in Aizawl.

    Addressing the gathering, the Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh emphasised the need for balanced development, with special focus on infrastructure in international and state border areas. “These border areas require a lot of attention and ultimately, the people living there are the ones who suffer the most,” he said. He expressed appreciation to NBCC (India) Ltd., for donating a well-equipped ambulance to Silsury Village, describing it as one of the critical healthcare needs of border villages.

    The Governor commended NBCC for the dynamism it has brought to its operations and urged the company to utilise its best practices and advanced technology to improve the living standards of people in a small state like Mizoram. He also highlighted the Central Government’s focus on Aspirational Districts and called upon NBCC to continue prioritising the development needs of people residing in border areas, given the company’s significant role in border infrastructure projects.

    Dr. R. Lalthangliana, MLA of Dampa Assembly Constituency, described the ambulance as a welcome gift for Silsury Village and the surrounding areas in Mamit Aspirational District. He thanked NBCC (India) Ltd., and expressed hope that the well-equipped ambulance would be put to genuine and effective use by the local community.

    The programme was chaired by Mr. Gyanaranjan Samal, CGM and Head of the North East Region, NBCC, who highlighted various initiatives and achievements of the company. Mr. Debasish Satapathy, Executive Director (HRM) & Head of CSR, NBCC, conveyed his gratitude and assured that the company would continue to successfully implement other CSR project proposals received from the state.

    Among those present were Mr. Ajit Roy, Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Suvigya S. Chandra, Deputy Commissioner of Mamit District, other senior NBCC officials and leaders from Silsury Village.

    NBCC (India) Ltd., was incorporated in 1960 and operates as a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India. The company functions as a Project Management Consultant (PMC) and is actively involved in executing large-scale infrastructure development projects of the Central Government.

    In Mizoram, out of the 189 km of Indo-Bangladesh border fencing sanctioned, NBCC has already completed 98 km, with the remaining work currently in progress in Lawngtlai District. Recently, the company handed over 55 km of border fence and 5 Border Outposts (BOPs) in the Dampa Tiger Reserve Forest area in Mamit District.
