Vice Chancellor and Registrar of MZU apprise Governor on achievement and Campus initiatives
Aizawl, the 16th June 2023: Prof Dibakar Chandra Deka, Vice Chancellor and Prof Lalnundanga, Registrar, Mizoram University(MZU) met Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati at the Raj Bhavan, today.
They apprised the Governor about the ranking improvement of MZU in the recently published NIRF Rankings 2023 from the previous position of 78th to 76th out of participating 500 plus universities. They also apprised key initiatives that included possibilities of introducing Law Faculty and Medical College under MZU.
Governor and the MZU’s heads discussed at length the idea of introducing key disciplines such as Medical studies and Laws. In this connection, Governor advised the MZU heads to further discuss the matters with Chief Minister. He also advised them to consult the concerned Ministers in the state.
In this meeting, Governor expressed his deep concern for the lack of awareness of available financial assistance for businesses through central schemes and critically important social security schemes among the general public. Governor suggested that the resources of the PG students and Research Scholars can be utilized for generating reliable data through Market Survey. He explained that the Banks have available loans through schemes like Mudra Loan and others but they need to have the statistics of potential beneficiaries.
