Aizawl, the 7th August 2023: Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati invited Shri C. Kamlova, a Padma Shree Awardee and a pioneer of Hindi language teaching in the state at the Raj Bhavan, today. The two shared their views and discussed how Hindi can be promoted in the state with new vigour in Mizoram.

In this meeting, Governor asked about the standard of Hindi learning through various stages in the schools here in Mizoram. He also stressed the need and the potential benefits of enhancing the speaking skills of the youth of Mizoram in Hindi. Governor felt that the youth of Mizoram are talented and have the potential to secure lucrative jobs anywhere in India but they need to sharpen their Hindi speaking skill. He also shared his observation that, unlike some parts of India, the Mizo youth are not against learning the Hindi Language.

Shri C. Kamlova gave a briefing to Governor on how Hindi is being promoted through the school levels and through other initiatives of the state Hindi Prachar Sabha. He explained that the current curriculum can be improved and that Hindi learning also can be extended to the NGOs, Self Help Groups and other entities for whom it may be helpful. In this connection, he also informed the Governor that a proposal approved by the state government and forwarded to the NEC through Art & Culture is yet to be approved. He explained further that the proposal was conceptualized and prepared under the fund available with the NEC for promoting Hindi learning in the Northeast region. Subsequently, he requested the Governor to pursue this proposal with the NEC.
