Aizawl, the 8th August 2023: Governor Dra Hari Babu Kambhampati had a meeting with Pu R.Lalramnghaka, Secretary, Pi Florence Zotluangpuii, Director and other officials of the Commerce & Industries Department at the Raj Bhavan today. In this meeting, Governor discussed with the officials on how a Fair or Exhibition to promote Handloom, Handicrafts and other products of local artisans can be promoted on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti ( October 2), this year.

At the outset of the meeting, Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati stressed the importance of handloom, handicrafts and other cottage industries to the state economy. He also reiterated the close connection that these crafts had with Mahatma Gandhi. He felt that it will not be a befitting tribute to the Father of the Nation on his birth anniversary by organizing Handloom and handicraft fair on the occasion but it will also have a great impact on the promotion of Handloom and handicraft in the state and outside.

Governor suggested Raj Bhavan would be the venue for the exhibition where many artisans and local entrepreneurs are invited to sell and showcase their products. He also added that the Raj Bhavan will also be open to the public on the occasion to visit the stalls.
