Governor Hari Babu discuss Mizoram’s low score in PGI with School Education Officials
Aizawl, the 28th September 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati discussed the poor performance of the state in the latest Performance Grading Index(PGI) with the top officials from the School Education at the Raj Bhavan, today. He also asked if the strategies are being made to improve the score in the near future.
To elaborate the reasons for poor performance in the PGI, Dr Dr Lalzirmawia Chhangte, Secretary, School Education gave powerpoint presentation. As per the report, three districts – Mamit, Lawngtlai and Serchhip were found to be very poor in overall score of PGI 2018-19. While the two districts out of the three mentioned slightly improved Mamit continue to perform badly even in PGI 2019-2020. These districts were found to be inefficient in submission and filing of reports for some parameters.
The Secretary explained that these are the things that pulled down the overall performance of the state in the PGI. He also elaborated the strategies that are being implemented to improve the PGI score in the future.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati appreciated the quick response made in finding out the reasons behind the poor performance. He also approved the strategies for improvement which are under the process for implementation. He further suggested to the Education Officials to mend the gap of communication between the top officials of school education at secretariat and directorate level with their counterparts in the districts and school heads on this PGI score and how it impacted the state image.
In this meeting, Dr H.Lalthlangliana, Director, School Education, Dr.A.Lalchhandami, Acting Director SCERT and Pu Lalhmachhuana, SPD, Samagra Shiksha were also present.
