Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) Graces World Homoeopathy Day 2025 Celebration

Aizawl, the 11th April, 2025: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), today graced the World Homoeopathy Day 2025 celebration as the Chief Guest at the Dawrpui Multipurpose Centre in Aizawl. The event, organized by the Directorate of AYUSH under the Health & Family Welfare Department, was also graced by Health & Family Welfare Minister Pi Lalrinpuii, as the Guest of Honour. This year’s Homoeopathy Day theme is ‘Adhyayan, Adhyaapan, Anusandhaan: Learning, Teaching, Research.’
In his address, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) emphasized that although Homoeopathy originated in Germany, it has found its strongest growth and acceptance in India. He noted, “Even on a global scale, India leads in the acceptance and practice of Homoeopathy.” He described Homoeopathy as a safe and affordable healthcare system, adding, “Homoeopathy does not merely treat the disease, it also addresses its root cause.”
The Governor also highlighted Mizoram’s rich tradition of medicinal knowledge, saying, “The acceptance and popularity of Homoeopathy in Mizoram have been steadily increasing. It holds great potential to flourish here.” He encouraged students and government stakeholders to actively promote Homoeopathy awareness throughout the state. He acknowledged the commendable efforts of the Clinical Research Unit (Homoeopathy) at Civil Hospital, Aizawl, and called for further advancement in the field. He also urged Homoeopaths and students to pursue research and publish their findings to strengthen the scientific foundation of Homoeopathy.
Health & Family Welfare Minister Pi Lalrinpuii, in her address, praised the contributions of AYUSH doctors to Mizoram’s healthcare system. “Although the number of AYUSH doctors in Mizoram is limited, their contributions are highly significant,” she said. She expressed gratitude for their role in effectively implementing various National Health Programmes, especially in the area of primary healthcare and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding AYUSH services based on public needs. She also called for increased visibility of AYUSH systems and encouraged post-graduate Homoeopathy degree holders to open clinics and share their expertise with the public.
The welcome address was delivered by Pu H. Lalengmawia, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary of Health & Family Welfare. Dr. C. Vanlalhlimpuia, Senior MO (AYUSH) from Kolasib District, gave a talk on the history of Homoeopathy, while Dr. Jonathan V.L. Tlankima (BHMS, MD Hom) presented a case study on Homoeopathic treatment methods. Awards were presented to the winners of the slogan writing competition held in celebration of World Homoeopathy Day 2025. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Lalthlengliani, Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare and Director of the Directorate of AYUSH.
