    Aizawl, the 7th March, 2025: Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd) visited Siaha today and distributed smart boards to six schools in the district as part of the Smart Classroom project in the region, initiated by ITI Ltd. and its implementing partner, Living Thoughts Organisation, with funding from Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility. The Governor also interacted with government department officials, enforcement agencies and teachers.

    Upon arrival at the Siaha District Helipad, the Governor was received by Deputy Commissioner Shri V.L. Hruaizela Khiangte, DIG Southern Range Shri Altaf Khan and other officials. A ceremonial guard of honour was accorded at the Circuit House, followed by the Smart Board distribution event and a discussion session.

    In his address, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh expressed his appreciation for the CSR initiative of Numaligarh Refinery Limited, as well as the efforts of ITI Ltd. and Living Thoughts Organisation in setting up Smart Classrooms in Lawngtlai and Siaha Districs. He conveyed his gratitude to all the beneficiary schools and emphasized the Prime Minister’s commitment to developing even the most remote areas of the country. The distribution of Smart Boards today is aimed at bridging the educational gap in remote and rural areas. I firmly believe this will enhance the learning experience and academic performance of the students,” said the Governor.

    While highlighting Mizoram’s great potency owing to its high literacy rate and hard working nature, he stressed that with the provision of right means, advanced learning tools and opportunities, the state could achieve even greater progress. The Governor encouraged officials to embrace innovation and adopt measures that promote growth. He stressed that education should not be limited to exam preparation but should also instill values and life skills. He further urged the public to embrace new technologies fearlessly and use them efficiently. Government of Mizoram is committed to ensure that progress reaches each and every corner of Mizoram and I’m sure with all our sincere efforts the state as a whole shines in the entire country, he added. He expressed his commitment to visiting Siaha District again in the future.

    The event at the Circuit House was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Shri V.L. Hruaizela Khiangte. Shri Prem Roy, representing Living Thoughts Organisation, presented a report, followed by speeches from Pu S. Lalremtluanga, Deputy CEM of MADC and Pu Vanlalchhuanliana, SDO (Sadar), who delivered a vote of thanks. The Governor also held discussions with government department heads and beneficiary school teachers.

    The six schools that received Smart Boards today are: Phura High School, Phura; Z.M. High School, Chapi; Border High School, Laki; Siasi Middle School, Siasi; Theiva Middle School, Theiva and Lopu Middle School, Lopu. Previously, 14 schools in Lawngtlai District had also received Smart Boards under this initiative.
