Aizawl, the 3rd September, 2025: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), this forenoon flagged off a group of 100 students, accompanied by eight teachers and tour guides, from Raj Bhavan in Aizawl for a Bharat Darshan Tour to Delhi. The programme is organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and facilitated by the Border Security Force (BSF).

In his address, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh expressed gratitude to the Central Government, the MHA and the BSF for initiating this meaningful programme for students from Mizoram. He described the Bharat Darshan Tour as a commendable and well-planned endeavour, acknowledging the efforts of all stakeholders in ensuring its success. Highlighting India’s vast diversity, he said that despite the country’s many cultures, languages and communities, it remains united and harmonious. He urged the students to approach the tour with curiosity and an open mind, encouraging them to learn from their experiences and bring back valuable insights to contribute to Mizoram’s progress. The Governor advised the students to ask questions fearlessly, seize every learning opportunity, and utilise their experiences to foster development in their home state.

During the event, Pu Ahsan Sahedi, DIG (G), Frontier HQ BSF, Silchar, stated that beyond border security, the BSF promotes national integration through initiatives like the Bharat Darshan Tour. He noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs tasked the BSF with organizing this tour for Mizoram students, marking its first occurrence in the state. He also expressed hope that such programs will expand to all districts in the future.

Pu A.K. Sharma, Commandant (Adm), Sector HQ BSF, Aizawl, proposed the vote of thanks, bringing the formal programme to a close. The Governor then interacted with the school children and formally flagged off the group.

This year’s Bharat Darshan Tour comprises 100 students and eight teachers from eight schools across four districts—Aizawl, Lunglei, Mamit and Saitual. The six-day tour, from September 3 to 8, will include visits to historical sites, cultural and heritage landmarks, government offices, museums etc. in Delhi. The students will also interact with MHA officials. The programme aims to provide an immersive learning experience, exposing students to India’s rich heritage and historical values, social and cultural diversity, make them aware of developmental initiatives and governance beyond their textbooks.

The ceremony was attended by Mizoram’s Director General of Police, Pu Sharad Agarwal, along with other officials.
