Mizoram Governor Graces Investiture Ceremony at St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School

Aizawl, the 18th June, 2026: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), graced the Investiture Ceremony 2026 at St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Montfort Hills, Tlangnuam, Aizawl, as Chief Guest today. The event formally inducted the newly elected school leaders for the academic year 2026-27.

During the ceremony, the Governor presented badges to the 20 newly elected school leaders and handed over house flags to the respective House Captains of the five houses – Louise House, Montfort House, Gabriel House, Francis House and Abraham House.

In his address, the Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh congratulated the newly elected leaders and urged them to lead with sincerity, humility and dedication. “True leadership is not about commanding others, it is about serving others. A good leader listens, understands and inspires by setting an exemplary life,” he said. He emphasised that leadership should be measured not by the privileges one enjoys, but by the service one renders. The Governor lauded St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School for its balanced emphasis on academic excellence and character building. “Education must prepare young people not only for successful careers but also for responsible citizenship. Our country needs honest, capable youth who are committed to the welfare of society,” he added.

Describing the Investiture Ceremony as more than a formal event, the Governor called it a celebration of leadership, responsibility and trust. He reminded the students of the duties that accompany leadership and encouraged them to develop strong personal qualities during their school years. He further advised the students that the knowledge and skills they acquire now will shape their future contributions to society and the nation. Noting the challenges of a rapidly advancing technological world and increasing global interconnectedness, the Governor urged them to remain adaptable, well-informed and morally grounded. Lauding the well-conducted and beautifully organised ceremony, the Governor expressed strong confidence in the students and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Earlier in the programme, Brother Kuriyan M.S., Principal of St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, delivered the welcome address. The Guest of Honour, Mr. David H. Lalthangliana, AIG (Hqrs), PHQ, examined the House Captains-elect from all five houses. The Principal then administered the oath of office to the newly elected school leaders, followed by acceptance speeches from the House Captains.
