Mizoram Governor Presents Rajya Puraskar Awards to Mizoram Bharat Scouts & Guides
Aizawl, the 25th November, 2025: Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), today presented the prestigious Rajya Puraskar Award (Governor’s Award) – the highest state-level honour conferred by the Mizoram Bharat Scouts & Guides (MBS&G)- to selected Scouts and Guides during a formal ceremony held at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Aizawl.
Congratulating the awardees, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh described the Rajya Puraskar as a significant milestone in the life of every Scout and Guide. He encouraged the recipients to treat the honour as a stepping stone toward the nation’s highest Scouting achievement, the Rashtrapati Puraskar. Expressing strong faith in the dedication and values of Mizoram’s youth, he said the spirit, discipline and community ethos of the Mizo people would surely inspire many to achieve even greater success in the years ahead.
The Governor emphasised that the Rajya Puraskar symbolises qualities such as perseverance, service, discipline and a passion for self-improvement, the core values of the Scouting and Guiding movement. He also underlined the broader role of Scouts and Guides in shaping responsible citizens, urging them to apply their skills and knowledge in protecting the environment, promoting community welfare, and preserving Mizoram’s natural beauty – its pristine air, lush forests, flowing rivers and rich cultural heritage – while contributing to the overall well-being of society. As the Chief Patron of MBS&G, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening and expanding the movement throughout the state.
To qualify for the Rajya Puraskar, Scouts and Guides must complete the Tritiya Sopan level, display proficiency in Scouting or Guiding skills, actively participate in social service, and successfully undergo the Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp. This year, a total of 149 Scouts and Guides from the 2024 batch received the honour, comprising 64 Scouts and 85 Guides. The district-wise distribution is as follows:
1) Aizawl District – 100 awardees (42 Scouts, 58 Guides)
2) Lunglei District – 16 awardees (8 Scouts, 8 Guides)
3) Champhai District – 15 awardees (8 Scouts, 7 Guides)
4) Mamit District – 10 awardees (2 Scouts, 8 Guides)
5) Saitual District – 8 awardees (4 Scouts, 4 Guides)
