Aizawl, the 3rd August 2026: Probationers of the Mizoram Information Service (MIS), Batch of 2026, who are currently undergoing an Orientation and Exposure Programme, today called on the Governor of Mizoram, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), at Lok Bhavan in Aizawl.

Addressing the MIS officers, the Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh said that in the present information age, social media platforms have come to dominate people’s lives, underscoring the critical importance of disseminating accurate and reliable information. He emphasised that the newly inducted MIS officers have a vital role in conveying trustworthy information to the public and in educating citizens. He therefore urged them to discharge their duties with the utmost care and responsibility.

Highlighting the rapid pace of change in the contemporary world, the Governor noted that communication is evolving swiftly through a multiplicity of available mediums. He stressed the need for officers to approach the dissemination of government press releases, schemes, projects and various important programmes with a clear and discerning mind, while also providing proper public education on these matters. He further underscored the necessity of countering attempts to distort public narratives and of actively building a positive narrative.

The Governor encouraged the MIS probationers to attach due importance to public relations. He advised them to cultivate innovative ideas, adopt a comprehensive 360-degree perspective on all issues, uphold integrity, maintain a strong will to learn, exercise carefulness, continuously update their knowledge and steadily improve their language skills. He urged them not to remain insular and reiterated that “Development comes when you interact and learn from others.” Reminding the officers that they are public servants, the Governor urged them to perform their duties with a constant awareness of this responsibility. He expressed the hope that they would productively utilise their diverse educational backgrounds for the benefit and progress of Mizoram.
