Mizoram Lokayukta Submits the Second Annual Report 2020 – 21 to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati
Aizawl, the 21st February 2022: As required under section 47 of the Mizoram Lokayukta Act, 2014, Pu C.Lalsawta, Chairperson, Mizoram Lokayukta presented the second annual report to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at the Raj Bhavan, today. The annual report covers the period from 1st April 2020 to 31st March, 2021.
During his interview with Governor, Pu C.Lalsawta briefly highlighted the contents of the second annual report. He also shared the need for improvement in some areas to strengthen the Mizoram Lokayukta. As per his report, Mizoram Lokayukta presently functions with skeletal staff strength which impedes its handling, examining and prosecuting the cases. Enquiry/ Investigation Wing and Prosecution Wing are also still not functioning. As on 15.02.2022, the Mizoram Lokayukta registered 39 cases. Out of these, 3 cases were disposed without Preliminary Enquiry (PE). Out of 36 cases registered for PE, PE of 20 cases have been received while PE for 16 cases are yet to be received. As of now, 11 cases were either closed or disposed of. Notice for Preliminary hearing of 10 cases was issued. 2 cases were dropped after hearing while 7 cases were referred for regular investigation.
