    Union Power Secretary Alok Kumar calls on Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati

    Aizawl, the 27th May 2023: Shri Alok Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India, paid a courtesy call to Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati at the Raj Bhavan, this evening.

    Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati welcomed his esteemed guest. He apprised him of his keen interest in developing power generation in Mizoram and the positive impact it could have on all other sectors. Governor shared the minimum requirement of power by the state at present, how much is generated by the state, how much is bought from outside the state and roughly, how much will be required considering the growth of industries from potential sectors. He also stressed the need for a hydrological survey before starting any hydropower plant.

    Shri Alok Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India briefed the Governor about the meeting he had with the top officials and engineers of the state’s Power & Electricity Department, Government of Mizoram in the afternoon. He was satisfied with the positives that came out from the interaction and the presentation by his state’s counterpart and his engineers. He shared with the Governor about the possibilities of setting up medium size hydroelectric projects shortly. He told the Governor that he received good cooperation and response from the state Government. He was also satisfied with the expertise and experiences of the Engineer – in- Chief and his engineers.
