ZEDA Officials apprise Governor Hari Babu on Installation of 70kWp SPV Power Plant of Raj Bhawan Complex
Aizawl, the 20th December 2021: On the Installation of 70kWp SPV Power Plant at Raj Bhawan Complex, the officials from Zoram Energy Development Agency (ZEDA) gave a PowerPoint presentation in the presence of Governor Hari Babu Kambhampatti at his office, today.
During his interaction with the ZEDA officials, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati suggested more awareness campaigns in order to educate the target beneficiaries on the feasibilities of clean and renewable energies like solar power Mizoram. He had also requested ZEDA and Power & Electricity Department to advise their customers to opt for grid-connected solar rooftop systems instead of off-grid systems in order to pump surplus and unused generated power into the grid for usage by others. He was pleased to learn that 1,44,705 numbers of solar study lamps were given to the students up to class 10 within the state. However, he had advised ZEDA to do more awareness campaigns so that the schemes of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy are being utilized to the optimum even in the remotest parts of the state.
As per the presentation given by ZEDA, there are 90% Subsidies in Off Grid Solar PV Power Plants – For Govt. Buildings, Institutions, etc, 90% Subsidy for Solar Street Lights – Public uses through village councils, 85% Subsidy for students up to Class X to buy Solar Study lamps. After the launch of JNNSM in 2010, ZEDA has already installed an aggregate capacity of 5,033kWp SPV power plants all over Mizoram, installed 20,000 numbers of solar street lights and distributed 1,44,705 numbers of solar study lamps to students up to Class 10 and below. Besides this, there is a provision of a scheme under Grid Connected Solar Rooftop Systems where a beneficiary can avail 40% subsidy for residential buildings and a provision of achievement linked subsidy for government buildings. Underachievement linked systems ZEDA installed a total of 113kWp in 8 government buildings in 2019 and they also installed an aggregate capacity of 902kWp (266 residential buildings- in 2019). However, the scheme is currently being implemented by Power & Electricity Department
